Former professional American football quarterback Brian Winfield Sipe (born August 8, 1949) was a member of the National Football League from 1974 to 1983 and the United States Football League from 1984 to 1985. Sipe played in the National Football League and the United States Football League. Sipe was a standout college football player at San Diego State University, where he played under the tutelage of coach Don Coryell while still pursuing a degree in architecture. In addition, he represented El Cajon, California, in the 1961 Little League World Series and attended Grossmont High School as a prep student. After being mostly sidelined for the first few years of his NFL career, Sipe emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the franchise’s history, earning the league’s Most Valuable Player Award in 1980.
